ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

South Georgians are encouraged to make Martin Luther King Day a day of service.

Second Harvest of South Georgia is offering people an opportunity to volunteer Monday.

The Food Bank is asking people to spend the morning of MLK Day helping them pack 2400 pantry boxes. Those boxes, containing 52, 800 pounds of food, will be distributed to people in need across a ten county area.

"If they would contact us at the Food Bank and come that day and let us know you are coming," said Albany Branch Director Jim Case.  "We really will be able to do a great deal with building these 2400 boxes."

Volunteers are needed from 8:30 to 12 on Monday.

Because it's a secure facility, The Food Bank asks volunteers to call and let them know if you plan to show up to help.

Call  883-5959, or you can e-mail them at jcase@feedingsga.org.
