THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -
Several agencies in one south Georgia county are working together to prevent the kind of attack that happened at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut.
Thomas County Family Connection is facilitating a series of meetings to discuss existing protective resources for children.
The group also hopes to develop strategies to fill in the gaps.
Law enforcers say these strategies are not just for schools.
"We're constantly changing, tweaking, adjusting based on circumstances that make us do that. Unfortunately a lot of that is negative things that happen elsewhere that we're forced to learn from," said Captain Steve Jones.
The Family Connection is opening the door for the community to join in the discussion.
