One south Georgia non-profit organization is teaching kids the value of recycling with a competition.
Keep Thomas County Beautiful challenged every Thomasville and Thomas County school to collect as much recycling as they can for the annual Recycling Bowl.
The winning school does receive a trophy, but contest organizers say the education is a lot more valuable.
"We hope that they see the value in reclaiming these items. That these are not trash to be buried in the landfill, but they are valuable resources to be used in our economy and it helps reduce the amount of dependence on our landfill," said KTCB Executive Director Pam Lister.
Keep Thomas County Beautiful says last year they collected more than 11,000 pounds of recycled goods.
