ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A car takes out an Albany fire station mailbox and slams into two cars at E-M-S Headquarters... narrowly missing a paramedic.

Twenty-one-year-old Jeremy John told police he fell asleep driving his 2012 Honda Civic on Palmyra Road just after 7:30 Saturday morning.

He slammed into the fire station mailbox... Two signs... And a light pole then smashed into two workers personal pickup trucks in the E-M-S headquarters parking lot.

It was during shift change... and one paramedic was in the parking lot.

"Paying a little bit of attention she saw it coming.  And she ran around the northeast corner of the building, until it came to a rest.  And then came out to see if he was okay," Dougherty County EMS Director Greg Rowe said.

John, who was not seriously hurt, was cited for failure to maintain lane and striking a stationary object.
