THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

South Georgia law enforcers want to help you make sure your children are safe in the car.

Several agencies got together in the Big Lot's parking lot in Thomasville Friday for a free child safety seat check.

Officers checked for proper installation and answered questions about child seat laws.

And police say parents can always ask for help when it comes to car seat safety.

"Come by the police department and make sure they are installed properly. We have officers who are trained to install them and they will share their information with our citizens and show them how to properly install the seats," said Lt. Eric Hampton.

Georgia law says all children under the age of eight are required to be properly restrained in an appropriate child passenger or booster seat.
