DAWSON, GA (WALB) -

Some people in Dawson want the city to get rid of the City Manager.

There was a demonstration near city hall Thursday night.

Some picketers claim city manager Barney Parnacott isn't making sure residents have safe conditions in which to live.

Others say Parnacott is doing a great job and want him to stay on the job.

"The reason I am in support of him is because he has done a very good job. He's not only doing the city manager job, he's doing the city's inspector job also. He's saving the city about $40,000 to $50,000 a year," said Parnacott supporter Dost Mohammad.

"If he doesn't want to resign, vote to get him out. Stop waiting on his resignation. Vote to get him out," said picketer Vinshay Brown.

City council members listened to concerns from several citizens Thursday night.

They say they'll take all comments into consideration and decide later whether Parnacott will keep his job.
