ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Parents and students got the opportunity to learn more about some vital and good paying careers.

A career Expo at Merry Acres Middle School focused on jobs in Science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Representatives from more than a dozen companies were there.

Organizers told students if they start focusing on those career fields now, it could pay off big later.

"Those students that major in STEM or math and Science careers make $34,000 more dollars than a person who graduates in another career, so we're hitting them hard and letting them know it's important right now to focus on a career," said Traci Price.
