LEE COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

You can take part in an upcoming event to honor troops killed serving our country, including one South Georgian.

Lance Corporal Steve Sutton will be honored along with other fallen troops during the Hero Run.

There will be two runs, one a little over five miles and the other less than a mile.

A bronzed memorial will be placed in Lee County's Veteran's Park to honor Sutton who was killed last year in Afghanistan.

One County Commissioner says it's a good way to show your patriotism.

"You don't have to be in the military to be patriotic. You don't have to be in the military to honorably perform your duty within your country or community. We have an extraordinarily patriotic community and a very dutiful group of folks in Lee County and Leesburg," said Commissioner Greg Frich.

The run will be held on February 23rd starting at 3 pm in front of the Courthouse.
