ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
Three good Samaritans helped put out a brush fire on the Liberty Expressway in Albany, Tuesday night.
We were there as three passersby pulled over on the bypass and put out several brush fires near the Slappey Boulevard Exit.
One of the men said he had to act quickly before the flames spread even further.
"Well I saw the fire getting close to the road and I didn't want it getting down further in the ditch. I jumped out to try to find something to beat it out with, but luckily these guys pulled up with a fire extinguisher and we put it out before the fire department got here," said Michael Worley.
While we don't know the official cause of the fire, firefighters urge drivers not to throw cigarette butts out of their car windows.
