A special election was held Tuesday in eight southwest Georgia counties to fill former Senator John Bulloch's vacated seat.

Bulloch resigned last month because of health issues.

Five Republicans and one Libertarian are on the ballot.

But because of the short campaign and timing of the election, voter turnout has been low.

"If you sit back and don't do anything, or don't say anything, or don't vote, then you don't have a say in matters. So that's what part of this country was established on is speaking your voice and letting your voice be heard," said Voter Bill Wilhelm.

A runoff is likely. It will be held on February 5th.
