ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Steve Parker was riding his Honda ST-1300 to work in Albany before daybreak this morning when he struck a Ford Terminix pickup truck, driven by George Alexion.

The State Patrol says that Alexion was headed toward Bridgeboro,  stopped at the intersection of Highway 133 and Highway 112, and then took off across the road, but for some unknown reason, hesitated before he got through the intersection.

The trooper says that Parker told him he hit the brakes of his bike, and slowed down enough that he didn't hit the rear of Alexion's truck at full speed. The trooper says that saved his life.

Parker was taken to Colquitt Regional Hospital with abrasions to his hand and shoulder.

Alexion was charged with failure to yield at intersection.
