ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Three Dougherty County Commissioners took their oath of office Monday morning.

District One Commissioner Lamar Hudgins, newly elected District Three Commissioner Clinton Johnson and District Five Commissioner Gloria Gaines were sworn in by Probate Judge Nancy Stephenson.

Chairman Jeff Sinyard also recognized outgoing Commissioner Muarlean Edwards for her years of service.

"It was an excellent feeling to be standing with, like I said, wonderful commissioners who've been serving so long. And to be coming in behind Commissioner Edwards, it's a great feeling. I'm overwhelmed," said new District 3 Commissioner Clinton Johnson.

Johnson says he hopes to bring a new perspective and new energy to the commission.

Commissioner Gaines was also named vice chair of the commission during today's meeting.

Dougherty County Commission Chairman Jeff Sinyard has named Gloria Gaines as the new vice chairman of the commission for 2013. Commissioner Ewell Lyle was the previous vice chairman.

The position is decided based on a rotation of the districts.
