ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
If you've driven past Lake Loretta in Albany the past couple of days you've probably noticed the lit-up green ribbon floating in the middle of the lake.
A member of the Lake Park Recreation Club hand-made the lit ribbon and set it up in the middle of the 25 acre lake in the heart of the city.
Members say the green ribbon is a memorial to honor of the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
"You see these memorials ribbons for pretty much anything else, veterans, any type of cancer so we just decided that it would be appropriate to do this for the sandy hook victims. Green is the main color of Sandy Hook Elementary school so that is why we chose to do it in green," said Grant Walker, Lake Park Recreation Club Member.
Members of the association plan to keep the memorial ribbon up for several weeks in honor of the victims and their families.
