ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Hundreds of people stood in the cold this morning to pick up a box of food.

The holiday season is over but that doesn't mean that the demand for food in the community stops.

Love thy neighbor distributes food to those in need weekly. Saturday they gave away over 10,000 pounds of food to folks that showed up for the giveaway.

"We wanted to remind folks that hunger doesn't stop just because Christmas is over, and we really want to implement the fact that hunger is a year round issue and that we are trying to encourage the community to help us by sponsoring these food distribution "Jim Case, South Georgia Second Harvest Branch Director.

Love Thy Neighbor distributes food on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
