Albany City Officials want to make sure business owners know they have to pay their business taxes earlier this year.
City leaders moved the deadline to renew Occupational Tax Certificates to January 31st instead of the usual March 15th deadline.
One business owner told us he wishes he had more time.
"We have to do what we have to do, but I wish they would hold it back until next month and that'll help out a great deal. But I just have to do what I got to do," said Leftenant's Clothing Store Owner Glenn Leftenant.
The fees also cost more this year. They're based on a business's revenue and all levels are up.
The minimum cost will go from $100 to $125 and the maximum will increase from $7,600 to $9,000.
Businesses that don't renew by the end of the month could have to pay fines and other penalties.
