LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -
Lee County officials held a conference today after a meeting they had with Toby Carr of the Georgia Department of Transportation Thursday. They saw a presentation from Carr that outlined some of the proposed highway improvements that are wanted by Lee County.
One of these is the development of a North Leesburg bypass. They also discussed a make-over for Starksville Road, including new asphalt for the highway.
On busy Highway 82, west of the Lee County line, they are discussing the speed limit and a traffic light at Oakland Parkway and Hickory Grove Road, near the library and conference center.
In Dougherty County, there was further discussion of a proposed underpass that would link the Albany Mall to Walmart. This would go a long way to reducing the heavy traffic flow that sometimes clogs Nottingham Way on the Dougherty side of Ledo Road.
Gianna Caserta will have details on this story later today.
