ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Dougherty County Police arrested 26-year-old Shane Anthony Williams Thursday and charged him with multiple sexual assault counts.

A 20-year-old woman told police that she was riding with Williams and another man from a store on Holly Drive late Wednesday night, when Williams sexually assaulted her in the vehicle on the Liberty Bypass.

The other man was not charged.

Williams is charged with aggravated sodomy, aggravated battery, and battery, and is in the Dougherty County jail.

Police say that the victim was examined and treated at the Lily Pad in Albany. They called her injuries 'significant.'
