THOMAS COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

We now know the name of a man hit by a car at party on New Year's Eve, but investigators still have unanswered questions.

According to the incident report, 23-year old James Butler was hit by 23-year old Adam Maxwell's car around 3:30 Tuesday morning at a party on 12 Mile Post Road in Thomas County.

Investigators say they know there was an argument between the two men, but they are still unsure what exactly happened.

"Our investigators are still looking into the incident. There are still witnesses to be interviewed. Whether or not more charges are forthcoming or anyone else being charged are totally up to the investigators at this point," said Captain Steve Jones.

Maxwell was released from jail Wednesday, charged with D-I and aggravated assault.

Butler was released from the hospital with a broken arm and other scrapes and bruises.
