VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta Police are trying to figure who fired gunshots into a woman's home and car early on New Year's Day.

Thankfully, no one was hurt. But it's clear this was no New Year's Eve celebration.

Investigators say this home was targeted.

"There's a bullet hole there, there's one, and this is a ricochet," said Tammy Thomas, as she pointed out the bullet holes in her home.

Thomas says she hid for cover in her own home shortly after midnight New Years Day when she heard multiple shots hit her house.

"It was very scary, very scary; when I went to the window and I saw his silhouette, it's like my body went limp and that's what made me just fall to the floor."

Thomas says she and her roommate were trying to have a quiet night in at their Webster Street home. They heard people celebrating with gunfire in the neighborhood, then heard shots a little too close for comfort.

"I went and ran and turned out all of the lights in the house and when I turned on the back porch light, by the time I got back to the window to look out and see if he was still there, he was gone," said Thomas.

And her roommates car is out of commission after one bullet hit the break line and another bullet hit the radiator.

Valdosta Police say one thing is obvious, these weren't celebratory shots ringing in the New Year.

"Usually when people do that, they try and fire up in the air, it's kind of unusual for multiple shots to hit one vehicle in particular. It appears that it could have been intentional," said Lt. Aaron Kirk, Valdosta Police Department.

Investigators say they are interviewing some persons of interest, but so far have made no arrests.
