Trio arrested for Lee car break-ins

Property recovered from the car burglaries Property recovered from the car burglaries
LEE CO., GA (WALB) -

Three young Lee County men are accused of stealing from cars.

The Sheriff says many of the crimes could be prevented, if we'd all just lock our car doors.

20-year old Bryan Moreland, 20-year old Tyler Dias, and 19-year old Matthew Loughmiller were arrested Sunday.

They're each charged with three counts of entering auto.

This is some of the loot that was stolen from cars parked in driveways in the Flowing Wells area of East  Lee County December 29th.

It includes D-V-D players, G-P-S devices, and sunglasses worth more than $1200.

Sheriff Reggie Rachals says all the cars were unlocked.  "Because they don't want to make no noise," said Rachals. "By breaking out a window or something, it makes a little too much noise for them. So just starting locking your vehicle, it makes it a lot harder on them."

Sheriff Rachals says if you lock your car doors and don't leave valuables in sight in your vehicle, crooks are much more likely to pass your car by.
