ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Fatal crashes on Georgia road this New Year's travel period was down more than half compare to last year.

Six people died in crashes since Friday night at 6 pm. That's compared 13 people killed in crashes during the same travel period last year.

There were 539 crashes Investigated by the Georgia State Patrol over the holiday period.

249 people were injured in those crashes.
