MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

Locking your car doors may not be enough, that according to police in Moultrie who are working to catch a pair of crooks believed to behind a rash of car break-ins.

Removing your belongings from the car the only way to ensure they won't get stolen, but detectives are hoping surveillance video will help the victims get their stuff back and land the crooks in jail.

Moultrie police want you to take a good look at surveillance video and pictures captured early Christmas morning of two men suspected of breaking into cars and stealing valuable items. It happened in the parking lot of a bike trail on Lower Meigs Road.

"Two individuals get out of the vehicle. One of them walks in the direction where the two vehicles were parked empty handed, when this individual comes back from the area where the vehicles are parked, he has an arm load of property," said Dave Underwood with the Moultrie Police Department.

Cops are seeing a series of car break-ins around the city recently and they now think these two may have something to do with it.

"I would like for them to come forward and explain to us what they're doing. If they weren't involved in these entering autos that's great, but maybe they could help us find out who is," said Underwood.

Now police are saying locking your valuables in the trunk is no longer deterring thieves and you should always take your items inside your home.

"We've said for a long time, lock everything in your trunk. With the cars of today, you don't need a key to get in all you have to do get inside and pop the trunk latch and it'll open," said Underwood.

As for these two, police need your help in finding them to see if they're behind the break-ins.

"We'd like for people to take a look at the video to see if they recognize the video. Even though it's grainy, if they recognize the individuals by the way they move, the clothing they're wearing or something like that, we would like to know," said Underwood.
