South Georgia businesses protect customers from DUI

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

New Year's Eve celebrations are cranking up on one of the most dangerous nights of the year for drinking and driving.

And South Georgia law officers will be on the roads patrolling.

A New Year's Eve Celebration will be held at the Merry Acres Event Center.

The Merry Acres General Manager says they know people will be enjoying alcohol, and want to make sure none get behind the wheel to drive home after drinking too much. They will have rooms available for guests who need to stay the night.

"Absolutely. We want to take care of everybody that comes out to see us," said Merry Acres Event Center General Manager Billy Mann.  "Enjoy the New Year and enjoy it safely. Get home the next day and enjoy the New Year's day."

Cops will tell you that is a fraction of what a DUI will cost you in legal and insurance costs for years to come.
