
A Sumter County woman has been killed and another injured in a house fire.
Sumter County Sheriff Pete Smith says 68 year-old Doris Fields was killed and her mother, 90 year-old Doris Hooper was injured when their home caught on fire.
Smith says Hooper was being airlifted to a burn center in Augusta, but officials landed in Macon for an unknown reason.
Officials say it happened late Sunday afternoon at 608 R.W. Jones Road. No one else was in the home at the time of the blaze.
The fire is under investigation and the cause is unknown at this time.
