THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

The biggest party night of the year is right around the corner, and police are urging you to be safe on New Year's Eve.

Thomasville Police say they'll be on the lookout for drunk drivers, underage drinkers, and any other illegal activity.

But they say even those who are not drinking, need to be careful.

"We encourage all citizens who may be driving on the road for New Year's Eve or during the holidays to be careful. Be alert for those who are not sober. For those who are drinking or under the influence. So always be on alert because you never know what other drivers are going to do especially if they're under the influence," said Lt. Eric Hampton.

Police say they will also be on the lookout for folks shooting guns in the air at midnight on New Year's Eve.

They say not only is that dangerous, but it's also illegal and violators will be arrested.
