ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

More freezing temperatures are in our forecast. That means you should make sure your car is ready.

That's especially true if you're traveling north around the New Year.

More heavy snow fell across much of the northeast and midwest today.

Mechanics say you need to prep your car, starting with your tires.

"Make sure you have a good set of tires, plenty of tread on it. Check your tire pressure in your tires, that's very important. Your tire pressure will change from a warmer climate to a colder climate, so keep an eye on your tire pressure," said Buddy Purvis of Purvis Auto Repair.

Purvis also recommends checking all of your fluids and lights on your car before you travel out of town.
