VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Is smoking a habit you want to kick in 2013? One hospital is trying to help south Georgians ring in a healthy new year.

South Georgia Medical Center is offering free smoking cessation classes starting in January.

Anyone can sign up. Even if you're not completely committed to quitting, health officials want to help you get there.

"New Year's is all about resolutions and trying to improve and make life better and really and truly if you are a smoker one of the best gifts you can give yourself is to stop smoking because smoking is the leading preventable cause of premature death in the United States," said Laura Love with South Georgia Medical Center.

Classes are at night and begin January 10th. To sign up call 229-333-1074.
