WORTH CO., GA (WALB) -

We're learning more about what led to a deadly Christmas Eve shooting in Worth County.

Worth County Sheriff Freddie Tompkins says 52-year-old Jannie Tweedy called 911 just before midnight on Christmas Eve, and told dispatchers she shot her husband, 57-year-old Carl Tweedy at their home on Pearson Road.

Officials say when asked why she did it, she said she got tired of the way he had been treating her.

Sheriff Tompkins and neighbors had never heard of any violence between the two.

"We have incidents like this happen probably every five or ten years. Husband and wife, and they get jealous over other people that they think that they're going with. You know, domestic, and that's what this was."

Carl Tweedy was taken to Phoebe Putney hospital where he died shortly after the shooting.

Jannie Tweedy is charged with murder. Other charges are pending.
