THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

Early voting began Wednesday for a Special State Senate Election.

The resignation of longtime State Senator John Bulloch opened the door for seven candidates to try to fill the District 11 seat.

One of those candidates is retired Social Security Office Director Eugene McNease.

"All my life I have heard folks talk about the government being it, they, them. Actually the government is you, it's me, it's our government and it is what we make it. So decided to get out here and try to make an impact on state government," said McNease.

Early voting continues through January 4th.

January 8th is election day.
