Officials say public safety never take a holiday
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
While many of you are home with your families on Christmas night, many of first responders are on duty to protect you.
For Albany firefighters, that doesn't mean they'll miss out on a good Christmas meal.
The guys at Station 1 were whipping up a delicious meal Tuesday night.
Their menu included collard greens, pork chops, and macaroni and cheese.
They say every year their Christmas is a little different than the typical holiday.
"It's just part of life for anybody in public safety, fire, EMS, police, our military. 365 days of the year somebody is on duty. Unfortunately emergencies don't take a holiday and neither does your public safety," says Battalion Chief Keith Androse.
Any firefighter who worked a 24-hour shift on Christmas Day will get off Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock and will have the next two days to spend with family.
