Albany firefighters donate money to Salvation Army

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Some local heroes donated money to a good cause Monday.

Albany firefighters handed a $1,000 check to the Salvation Army.

They raised the money by selling their 2013 Albany Firefighter Calendar which showcased 13 firefighters who suited up for the cause.

"I got 13 groups of guys together to set up and pose in a calendar and we sold it to the community," said Donald Jackson, Albany Fire Department.

"This highlights the generosity of the community, it is pretty awesome to have heroes come in and be heroes at a deeper level, for the Salvation Army it means we can reach out a little more," said Major Kelly English, The Salvation Army.

The calendar is still on sale and can be purchased at the Albany Fire department n headquarters on north Jackson Street.

The calendar is also full of fire prevention tips.
