ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

It's the last chance you have to pick up any last minute items before Christmas.

Stores all over Albany were packed Monday with folks doing just that.

But it's wasn't the typical shopper who came out.

When you think of shopping, you typically think of women.

But Monday it was the men who were out on the prowl looking for that perfect present for loved ones.

I spoke with several retailers who say the men waited until the last possible second to pick up those presents.

"I bought all of these gifts today, this morning," said Dorieal Flemming,

Men are typically good at a lot of things, watching football, fixing things, working in the yard, but shopping usually isn't too high on the list.

"I feel that a lot of men feel like the closer it gets to Christmas, the more money they'll be able to save which in most instances that's not the case," said Daysha Outlaw

"At the last minute they're thinking that if I don't get something I'm going to be in big trouble," said Derek Stokes.

I spoke with retailers and merchants who say tons of husbands, sons, and brothers piled into the stores today, and not only that but, they were the first ones in line waiting for the doors to open.

"As soon as we opened the doors we had five guys walk in trying to get that last minute gift and they came right to the cosmetics area, to the fragrances," said Stokes.

"We've been having a lot of men come in at the last minute trying to find rings, necklaces, whatever they can find," said Outlaw.

"My first 5 customers of the day were men so they were the ones at the door at eight which was great," said Honey Bolten.

But it's not fair to say only men procrastinate.

"Not this one. I'm the planner. I'm good. He's the planner," said Kayla and Harry Day.

Women were also out and about picking up last minute items.

Stores were packed with both genders and there's one thing that everyone can agree on they're ready to be done with shopping in enjoy the holidays.

"Merry Christmas"

Most stores close early Monday and will be closed Tuesday for Christmas.
