COLQUITT COUNTY, GA (WALB) -

State Fire Investigators are investigating an early morning fire in Colquitt County that left a woman dead.

Officials say the fire, which occurred Saturday around 4:30 a.m., damaged the home at 504 SW Fourth Street in Moultrie.

"The exact cause of the fire is unknown at this time," said Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens.

Investigator have sent the body to the GBI Crime Lab for positive identification.

Authorities say no working smoke alarm was discovered by investigators.

Investigators say only one person was inside at the time of the fire.

Neighbors say this isn't the first incident that has happened at the home.

"I've been here for like 12 years now and this is the second occurrence of death that has happened at this residence right behind me," says next-door neighbor Derrick Slaughter.

In March, 2010, 29-year-old Willie Bender Junior was shot and killed in the front yard of the house.
