ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Places of worship across Georgia rang their bells at 9:30 Friday morning in remembrance of those killed in the Connecticut School shooting.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church at the corner of North Jefferson and Pine Avenue in downtown Albany was one of the dozens of churches in our area that tolled bells 26 times Friday morning.

The bells rang exactly one week after the shooting to honor the 20 children and 6 adults gunned down at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.

In Athens, students rang the University of Georgia Chapel bell.

Connecticut Governor Daniel Malloy proclaimed Friday a day of mourning in his state.
