ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
High performing Albany police officers were honored Friday for their hard work.
Chief John Proctor took time to recognize the employees of the Albany Police Department Friday for the work they do to keep the city safe.
He said the luncheon is a way to thank the men and women of the department for their dedicated work.
"As you know many of these folks won't be home at Christmas time, and this is part of their families as well, APD is part of their families, and we want to show them some love, we want to show them that we care about them," said Chief John Proctor, Albany Police Dept.
APD Media Manager Phyllis Banks received the Commander in Chief award for going above and beyond the call of duty.
Officers also honored the victims of Sandy Hook Elementary mass shooting.
