THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A south Georgia non-profit group is working to spread the Christmas cheer amongst kids in their community.

The Brotherhood of Love in Thomas County is an outreach ministry that helps those in need and founder Gary Johnson received a big donation Thursday morning.

Johnson and his wife Doris were victims of a violent home invasion last month.

Three men forced their way into Johnson's home with assault rifles and stole thousands of dollars worth of cash and jewelry.

However Johnson isn't letting that stop him or his organization from for helping the underprivileged kids in the community.

After hearing about Johnson's story, MCLB's Toys for Tots in Albany decided to donate about 400 toys for his Johnson's Christmas Day event.

Johnson along with Santa Claus will distribute the toys to 300 underprivileged kids.

Johnson says he still needs food donations for Tuesday on Christmas Day.

To make a donation call Gary Johnson at 229-200-8403 or drop them off at 112 Fern Street in Thomasville.
