Boys and Girls club take care of deployed Marines

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Kids at the Albany Boys and Girls club are making sure military men and women in Afghanistan are taken care of this Christmas.

Parents and Kids were asked to bring in hygiene items and snacks and drinks for 35 local Marines in Afghanistan this Christmas.

Marines stopped by the club to pick up those items and express gratitude on behalf of their fellow marines.

The service project is put on by the Torch and Keystone Club but the entire East Albany Boys and Girls club helps.

"It makes me feel like they really appreciate what the marines are over there doing for their country and at least someone here cares," said GY SGT Maranda Townsend, USMC.

"We should give back to them because we do more for us than we do for them," said Princeton Qualls, President of Torch & Keystone Club.

Kids and parents, who participated in the project, were treated to an ice cream and popcorn social.
