Tifton police investigate apartment shooting

TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

The Tifton Police Department and Tift County Sheriff's Office responded to Peterson Apartments at 720 Timmons Dr. in reference to shooting.  

Officers found 27-year-old Thomas Horward Jr., holding a .45 caliber handgun and a woman on the ground with a gunshot wound on the left side.

Howard was arrested and the woman was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center.

Horward is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. 

The victim is in stable condition and was air lifted to Macon Thursday morning. The Tifton Police Department is not releasing the name of the victim until her family is verified.

    We are not sure if workers will return to the Flint River, to continue clean up efforts after a second sewage spill into the water way. Jacobs, the company responsible for the pumps, said in a statement they hope to bring in a third-party source in to assess the damage.
