Five popular Albany bars are in danger of losing the right to serve alcohol because police say they are trouble spots.
APD officials asked city commissioners Tuesday night to not renew alcohol licenses for The Sandtrap, Regency Inn, Big Daddy's, Club Escape, and Charley B's because police respond to so many calls at the businesses.
The business owners will have to convince commissioners they should keep their licenses.
"We set them down for a hearing because the police department says they've had a lot of large number of incidents at those certain locations and we're going to have a hearing on whether or not their license should be renewed," says City Commissioner Bob Langstaff.
These bars will remain open and continue to serve alcohol until formal hearings are held sometime in January.
Bars like the Sandtrap Lounge and Club could lose their right to serve alcohol
Owners of bars like Charley B's will have to convince the city to keep their license
