DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA -
Some elderly folks in Dougherty County received a special Christmas surprise Tuesday.
The Rotary Club of Dougherty County partnered with the SOWEGA Council on Aging for the third annual Santa for Seniors.
The club raised more than $1,200 to purchase 70 gifts for clients who many not normally receive a Christmas present.
"I don't think you ever get past enjoying some attention and Santa Claus and getting presents, all of that. And a lot of these people, like I said, may not have an opportunity to enjoy that," said Kay Hind, with the SOWEGA Council on Aging.
The gifts were delivered Tuesday. Organizers say over the past three years the event has grown and they hope that continues.
