ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
An important Second Harvest food drive is off to a slow start.
Organizers hope you'll help them have a strong finish.
Tuesday afternoon the food bank had not received any donations of food or coats at their drive at S-B-and-T Bank on Old Dawson Road.
Rain canceled Monday's start.
Corporate sponsors gave 15-pallets of peanut butter, but the food bank is counting on gifts from the community to restock their shelves after Christmas.
"Hunger doesn't stop at the holiday," said Second Harvest of South Georgia Albany Branch Director. "So we've got to get ready for next year. We still have winter months to go through. We still have some things we need to be able to meet during those months."
Wednesday the Food Drive will take donations at the Lee County Winn Dixie and Turner's Budget Furniture on North Slappey.
Thursday they'll be at S-B-and-T on East Oglethorpe Boulevard. Friday at Oakland Park on Highway 82 in Lee County.
