ALBANY, GA (WALB) -
A three-year-old boy is recovering Monday night after a pit bull bit him in the face Sunday afternoon.
Jadyn Fields was playing outside when a male pit bull attacked him in the backyard of his grandmother's house.
He was transported to Phoebe where he received more than 30 stitches in his face.
Right after the attack his father shot and the killed the dog, who belonged to the aunt.
"He chased the puppy and by the time he got out there he had jumped on him and I was just coming down the stairs and I dropped the clothes and ran. By the time I ran he had fought him off and he was running to me saying mommy mommy he jumped on my he bit me," says Jadyn's mother LaShunda Fields.
Jadyn is home from the hospital, recovering from the attack. No charges will be filed. Officials say the child did receive a rabies shot Sunday night and they're examining the dog to see if it had rabies.
