DOUGHERTY COUNTY, GA -

A Dougherty County toddler is taken to the hospital after being bit by a pit bull.

Dougherty County Police say it happened around 2:15 pm Sunday on Fleming Road.

Authorities say the pit bull, which belonged to the child's aunt, was chained in the backyard when it bit the three year-old in the face, leaving deep lacerations.

The child's parents took him to Phoebe Putney hospital.  Police would not release the name of the child and we don't know his condition at this time.

The dog was shot and killed by the child's father.
