ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Organizers of this year's Peppermint Pops concert say it will be the best one yet, but you will have to pay to attend.

The event will feature the Boston Brass Quintet along with the Albany Symphony Orchestra and Chorale.

In the past, the concert has been free. This year, tickets will cost $5 or $10 to help pay for the Boston Brass Quintet.

Organizers say if you show up, you'll definitely leave in the holiday spirit.

"It's an event to showcase the Albany symphony orchestra and the Albany chorale for the whole family. It's an annual holiday tradition, it's a signature event for Albany," said Albany Symphony Executive Director Lark Ledbetter

There will be two Peppermint Pops performances Saturday at 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm at the Albany Municipal Auditorium.

You can but tickets at the box office.

If you attend the Peppermint Pops, you're encouraged to bring a canned food item.

Folks from the Second Harvest Food Bank will be there to collect items. Their goal is to fill up the Kids Cafe van with donated food.

Officials say many families are in need this holiday season.

"The need is still there. This is the time of year where we get more and more request and that's why these food drives at this time of year is so crucial and that's why I feel it is worthwhile to be out there as long as I will be," said Second Harvest Branch Manager Jim Case.

Even if you don't attend Peppermint Pops, Second Harvest leaders hope you'll still drop off a donation at the auditorium.
