TIFTON, GA (WALB) -
A country music superstar helped light a Christmas tree in South Georgia to remember lost loved ones, Thursday night.
Trisha Yearwood sang at the Tree of Life ceremony at Tift Regional Medical Center.
She discussed her experience at Tift Regional's Oncology Center and Hospice of Tift Area while her mother battled cancer.
One donor says he was able to attend the ceremony because Tift Regional made sure someone would take care of his ailing mother-in-law, Thursday night.
"For us to be here at the tree of life lighting, the hospice actually sent someone to our home to give us the opportunity to be here tonight," said donor MC Vickers.
This is the 27th year the Tree of Life has raised money to help cancer, hospice and seriously ill patients.
It's sponsored by the Tifton Junior Woman's Club and other donors.
