Dougherty County officially has a new coroner.
Michael Fowler was sworn in this morning at the government center by Probate Judge Nancy Stephenson as his family, friends and supporters looked on.
Fowler says his years of experience with the GBI and as a mortician prepared him for the job.
He already plans to make some changes.
"I know sometimes families have problems waiting on death certificates so there is a new system I want to implement to speed that process up because I know family members are looking for the insurance policies to come in and a lot of that is because of death certificates," said Michael Fowler, Dougherty Co. Coroner.
Fowler defeated Emma Quimbley in this year's coroner's race.
