ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The suspect in shooting in east Albany Wednesday morning turned himself in Wednesday afternoon.

Police say 25 year old Boctavous Clyde turned himself in at the LEC at approximately 2:00 p.m.

Clyde is accused of shooting 22 year old Ronald Taylor  who was taken to the hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.

Our camera was rolling as paramedics carried Taylor on a stretcher from his apartment to an ambulance.

He was gunned down around 10:30 Wednesday morning after his uncle said he received a phone call.

"He called my nephews phone and told him to come somewhere. My nephew said he wasn't going anywhere. He stepped outside to get some cigarettes and that's when I heard a gunshot," said Ivory Gilyard.

That gunshot, likely from a semi-automatic handgun, pierced Taylor in the lower right side.

"I ran to the backdoor and saw my nephew bleeding about to fall and I helped him in the house," Gilyard said.

Taylor was rushed to Phoebe Putney Hospital. His shooter took off running.

Police interviewed neighbors and collected evidence. It didn't take them long to identify Clyde as a person of interest.

Taylor's uncle said the shooting followed a series of texts from a man known only by a street name but believes it was over a girl.

"He could have killed my nephew. I coulda walked into the line of fire because I just came out of the house after I heard the gunshot," said Gilyard.

Taylor was said to be in stable condition.

Clyde is charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.

The shooting happened not far from Turner Elementary School. It was placed on lock down for 30 minutes.

It's a second time in 2 weeks a shooting in the city during school hours has put a school either on lock down or on alert.
