The Albany Humane Society is getting a makeover thanks to some help from a national humanitarian group and national dog food company.
Mary Antoine, the Dougherty County Library Interim Director confirmed Tuesday that Guy Craft, the chairman of the library board resigned today, effective immediately.
She said it'll be up to the board to find a replacement.
Craft has been under fire following the closing of the two library branches in June.
He threatened to step down during an August commission meeting, during a heated debate with Commissioner John Hayes.
Here is the text of Craft's letter:
To the Honorable Jeff Sinyard, County Commission Chairman:
This letter comes to you as my resignation from the Chairman of The Board of The Dougherty County Public Library System and the Board itself/
It is with the deepest regret that I submit this letter, and it has been my pleasure to serve this community on the Library Board.
I wish the best for the library and the community.
This resignation is effective immediately.
Dr. Guy Craft
