ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Georgia State Patrol is asking people to help them make it a merry Christmas for children in need.

South Georgia troopers say there is still time to donate toys for the Marine Corps Reserves' Toys for Tots program. For the fourth year, the troopers at Albany Post 40 have collected an impressive group of toys and bicycles for the program.

Troopers donated themselves and collected donations from the community totaling three thousand dollars. They purchased 26 bikes and other toys, but say you still have a couple of more days if you would like to help.

"It's a big help to the community. Families that are going through hard times around about now can be able to have something for their child during the Christmas time," said Sgt. First Class Shawn Urquhart, GSP Post 40 commander.

Troopers from the State Patrol Posts in Cuthbert and Colquitt are also collecting toys for the Toys for Tots program.

If you would like to donate, you can call the GSP post at 229-430-6585.
