THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A suspected marijuana dealer remains in the Thomas County Jail Monday after a weekend chase.

A sheriff's deputy tried to stop 26-year old Alfonso Walden on the North Thomasville Bypass because of a broken tail light.

Narcotics agents say Walden would not stop and led the deputy on a two mile chase to a house on Kelly Street. He tried to run but got caught when he ran into a barbed wire fence.

"It's dangerous for the community. It's dangerous for the person driving because they are trying to get away and they are taking risks they shouldn't be taking. It's dangerous for us as law enforcement because we are having to travel at high rates of speed too," said Narcotics Commander Kevin Lee.

The deputy called narcotics agents to the scene. They found more then 40 grams of marijuana and digital scales. Walden is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, obstruction, and felony eluding.
